Scale Up Project (Phase-I) covering 10,000 women under women empowerment project : November 2010 to June 2011

Geographical areas: Jaunpur, Sant Ravidas Nagar and Mirzapur districts of Uttar Pradesh

Project objectives: Providing financial literacy for financial inclusion to 10000 women  

Outcome:

District level concept sharing workshop conducted with all stakeholders to sensitize the stakeholders and their co-operation in the project

Customised locally relevant tool kits developed in order to reach out target women

Around 94 local trainers participated in a six day residential training programme and they were equipped with sufficient skill set to reach to over 10000 women

Active involvement of Community facilitation organisations (CFOs) in the programme and a series of consultation meetings held with CFOs 

A three step approach of Mass awareness campaigns, village awareness programme and household level training adopted to reach to over 10000 women.

Established linkages with Banks and financial institutions through handholding support and coordination

The campaign covered over 11028 women in 975 SHGs spread over 500 villages through 52 mass awareness campaigns and over 400 household trainings were conducted. Special BC camps were organized for the target women. Around 5141 no frills accounts were opened, over 3701 women have been covered under social security insurance schemes with LIC and premium of over Rs 3.95 lakhs have been collected. Women have availed remittance facility in the accounts
